Spring's Push

The crocus appeared
amidst the brown kingdom -

the first to bear the message
of the arrival
of green magic.

The flicker hollered,
joining in -

calling to reluctant hearts
buried by winter
having forgotten their name.

Then Spring
walked in -

delivering a fervent push
into the present
and out of the past.
