on the way
to wealth,
it's just not what
i thought
it would be.

I have not stumbled
on the way
to forgiveness,
it's just that
grief set the pace
instead of me.

I have not struggled
on the way
to wisdom,
it's just that i was
too ignorant
to put more faith
in mystery.

I have not feared
on the way
to love,
it's just that
i didn't know
it already belonged
to me.

I have not laughed
on the way
toward freedom,
it's just that
this is why
i needed
to be free.
