I requested an audience
with your soul yesterday

so I could see you
with my inner eyes.

You were busy at work,
intently digging in the earth.

I asked, “What are you doing?”
To which you replied -

“I’m building a home
in my heart for you.

It’s not finished yet.”
The excavation continued.

I asked, “Do you need anything?”
To which you replied -

“A glass of water
from your heart.”

To which I replied by gathering
my Life’s nectar and tenderly obliged.
